The End of the Beginning

The National Resource Center for Paraprofessionals is cheering for Ben! How cool is that?!

Paraprofessionals in the schools are the lifeguards who keep our kids above water. Ben has had a 1:1 para since he was in 1st grade. This was a support that we knew he would need in order to be successful and a skilled para can make all the difference in a school year. Cheers right back at you!

I am giving a presentation today in a town of only 3500 people but more than 100 teachers (and hopefully paras!) are registered to attend! Monday I will be presenting 4 workshops at a school in an even smaller town where more than 200 school personnel are expected to attend. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders become less invisible with each one of these workshops and that gives me hope.

At a meeting yesterday someone quoted Dan Dubovsky, one of my heroes, as saying, "We're not at the end yet, but we're at the end of the beginning."

The end of the beginning. I like that.

You're right! How cool is that! I, oo, am cheering for Ben, and ccn't wait to see him. We are leaving on our journey back to Minnesota in just a couple of hours. I'm cheering for me, too! ~mom~

I agree, the paras really help keep it all together. And to think that if they are fortunate, they work themselves out of a job as our children learn their own coping skills, one day at a time. I know our daughter wouldn't be where she is now without all the help and patience she has received from her para. Thanks for the reminder!
