May is National Foster Care Month and I am aware that it is only mid-April, but I wanted to post this early in case it inspired anyone to do something in their community this year to raise awareness about foster care issues.
Three years ago our family joined with other foster and adoptive families and concerned community members and tied 200 blue ribbons in a tree that is in a park in our community. Each of these ribbons represented a child in foster care in our community.
Ben looks so young in this picture! He had a great time tying ribbons and I'm pretty sure that he understood that these ribbons were for kids like him.
Many people go though their day without ever thinking of the child in foster care or the families caring for these children. Let's all do something to raise awareness this year!
